About

Charlbury Town Youth Football Club was founded in 1947 and is here to provide boys and girls from Charlbury and the surrounding villages with the opportunity to play football. The club now runs youth teams from Under 6 to Under 16s. These teams play in the Witney and District Youth Football League.

Our U14 Girls team play in the Oxford Mail Girls League.

Please see team pages for more information about the different age groups.

All our head coaches are qualified to at least FA Level 1 standard. This includes being a qualified coach, having Emergency First Aid training, having undertaken a child protection course and being CRB checked. For U7s upwards there is training one night a week, and a match at weekends from September to April.

The club is affiliated to the Oxfordshire FA and was awarded the FA Charter Standard in 2002. The Charter Standard Scheme is a best practice guide that sets standards of coaching, administration and child protection for clubs working with young people. As a benchmark for quality, it improves the playing experience for all. We have also signed up to the Football Association’s RESPECT campaign.

Aims of the football club:

  • To help develop skills of the players, in a safe and enjoyable environment.
  • To promote fair play.
  • To promote healthy lifestyles and activity through football.
  • To have FUN!
  • To provide a pathway from youth football through to men’s football and or coaching/refereeing.
  • To help and encourage talented players to progress to Representative Teams or Major Club Teams.

We are always eager to hear from people willing to help out, whether it be by refereeing, coaching or being involved on the committee. We can help point you in the right direction with regards to training courses. Teams can only run if we have the involvement of parents.
