Week 8 – Under 11s hit teens early!!

The U11 girls played their match on Saturday morning at a very wet and soggy Charlbury Cricket Club against Heyford. With half term and a number of the team being away, we began with just seven players. The game started well and got better…! Several super moves were built out from defence that resulted in a flurry of goals, in fact a lot of goals…..The scorers on the day were Molly White (6), Molly J (4), Fran (5), Matilda (1) and Gracie (1).

The girls played fantastically well and deserve great credit for the way they continued to play terrific passing football with great goal scoring….! Great credit to Heyford who played good football and were exceptionally team spirited. Player of the match was Molly J flowing a strong performance throughout…..

Captain – Molly J

Under 16 Girls – Charlbury 11 Launton 0

The senior girls team also hit double figures on a wet and windy morning in Enstone. An emphatic display saw Charlbury race into a 3-0 lead within 10 minutes, kicking downhill in the first half. All players contributed to a festival of good passing and running off the ball and when called upon Ruby made a first class save from a long driven free kick. Goals from Ruby C (4), Gaby (3), Emily (2), Sophia (1), Abbie (1) saw the half time lead increase from 5-0 to 11-0. Create to Launton, they continued to play football and competed well but just caught Charlbury on a more clinical day than normal!

Under 14 boys friendly Witney Vikings 3-6 Charlbury

A chance to play a team in the Oxford Mail league in a friendly turned into a very competitive and sometimes unfriendly game, as the U14s battled back from a 3-2 deficit to win 6-3. Charlbury took the lead early on after the award of a penalty, converted by David Jenkins but then conceded two soft goals from set pieces. Action went from end to end resulting in a 3-3 scoreline at half time.

Playing uphill, Charlbury defended well some early pressure then the game opened up and Lewis was able to break away and restore the lead at 4-3. Charlbury did well in containment and broke several times through the heart of the Witney defence to extend the league to 3 clear goals. Thanks for Tom R and Tom W having half a game in goal whilst Henry was away on a Spa weekend (or so its said!!)

Scorers : Lewis (3), David (2), Tom H (2)
